Yetep“AR-MIN! AR-MIN! AR-MIN! AR-MIN!”
That crowd stirs with anticipation of the four-time number 1 DJ in the world comes to the stage and spreads his arms wide. A Year with Armin van Buuren released on the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Youtube page Saturday, October 6th, going behind the life of one of the established DJ’s ever.
“Trance music has a special effect on people. It unties them in a way I’ve never seen with other types of music,” Armin tells the camera during the 51-minute video.
Ibiza. Amsterdam. Sydney. Miami. It’s business as usual for Armin as he pushed himself to the limit, balancing appearances, shows and radio across the world, while starting a family back home in the Netherlands.
The documentary takes you through Armin’s journey from the very beginning. His graduation from law school. (Yes, he was legally an attorney!) His first studio in his parents’ house. His rise through the DJ mag rankings.
“There was never a set point in my life that I decided to become a DJ,” Armin revealed.
The short movie even shows his reaction to receiving second place on the DJ mag list to David Guetta last year, after four consecutive first place finishes. “Back to being the underdog,” Armin says with a smile.
If you have never been to an Armin show, this documentary will show you why a ticket to one of his shows is so highly coveted. His signature energy, trademark smile and slightly foreign but American way of saying “Welcome to A State of Trance”.
The documentary will be shown on the KLM Youtube page until October 20th but is already available on DVD on the Armada Music website.
