Dr. Fresch is a DJ, producer, pioneer of the “Future Ghetto” sound, and of course, a master of keeping it Fresch. The California native experienced an abrupt career launch, after winning Insomniac’s Discovery Project Contest back in 2013. His debut self-titled EP and innovative take on genre quickly gained attention, and it wasn’t long before he was featured at #9 on Billboard Magazine’s “Next Big Sound” chart. Over the years, he mastered his signature “Future Ghetto” style, a fusion of house, hip-hop/rap, and trap, resulting in a forward-thinking sound.
He’s put out releases on OWSLA and Ministry of Sound, and become a staple on the festival circuit, with plays at EDC Las Vegas, Paradiso, CRSSD, Escape, Boo, and many more. He has also racked up over 30 million plays on SoundCloud, solidifying himself as one of the most unique emerging artists in the dance music realm.
When asked about his name, the doctor himself responded: “My last name is Fresch, and I felt that I had to use that in my artist name. I chose to go by ‘Dr. Fresch’ instead of Tony Fresch because I felt that it better represented the deep and groovy style of music that I make.” If Dr. Fresch isn’t the most appropriate name for the “Future Ghetto” pioneer, then I don’t know what is.
