YetepFor the first time in one of the most storied careers in EDM’s short history, Eric Prydz has made himself a home in the Wynn Las Vegas, playing regularly at XS and Surrender Nightclubs.
Yet, this isn’t your typical residency. Prydz is bringing his narcotic, elemental sounds to Vegas, bringing the underground noise to the masses on The Strip, something few DJs dare to attempt. His dark sound titles the show Black Dice.
“Vegas has always been known for that glamour and the gold,” says Prydz. “We wanted to change things up.”
Las Vegas has seen a number of residencies throughout the past 5 years or so. Yet, Eric Prydz’s star power with the behind the scenes EDM fans throughout the years can bring more people into the growing electronic music scene in American.
This could very well be the start of a sub-movement to produce new hypnotic, trance-inducing sets on a bigger scale. The underground hasn’t seen day light in quite some time. Eric Prydz intends on breaking that trend with his residency.
“The sound of the music I produce and the music I play is something Las Vegas hasn’t really heard yet,” Prydz says. “That’s the whole idea of Black Dice. It’s about putting something new in the city.”
Eric Prydz doesn’t need to play the mainstream to thrill the listeners. His sets will include the rarest tracks, the most obscure beats and drops that even the most seasoned electronic fan has yet to hear, but they will amaze any ear that the music flows through. If there’s any DJ to bring EDM back to its roots, it’s Prydz.
‘Black Dice’ hits the strip on February 9th, 2013. Visit Wynn Social online for tickets.
