YetepAfter teasing the track last week on his Facebook account with a hilarious video featuring a drunk girl telling Borgore that if he was actually anyone then she’d know who he was, #IMadeItToForbes all makes sense now. This week’s Relentless Beat of the Week, “Forbes”, from Borgore & G-Eazy, was just dropped via Buygore Records and pays homage to the business magazine in Borgore’s traditional obnoxious fashion. The track lays down what it means for the rapper and the producer to have made the Forbes list and what it took to get there including winning awards, selling out tours, and having girls that are better than yours. They stay away from average fours.
Borgore brings his quality production to the track, throwing out some hard-hitting dubstep basslines and some slimy trap beats that build up to evoke a sense of horror with a drop as angry as Bruce Banner. Contributing to the build is the smooth-flowing rap from G-Eazy exclaiming to his mom, “Look Mama, I made it to Forbes!” This fusion of rap and electronic is nothing new, but Borgore and G-Eazy have certainly graced us with some solid input for the growing genre.
When speaking with XXL Magazine, who had the honors of debuting the track a day early, the two artists talked about the effect that the track has had on audiences thus far and how exciting it was to develop the track. G-Eazy started by saying that he’d “never done a record like this before but the beat was so hard I had to do it. Then I performed it at a festival in Europe to try it out and it went the fuck off, people moshing and goin’ crazy.” Borgore on the other hand took a much simpler route when discussing the track. To him the track had a singular purpose: “I hope this track will get me and G on the cover.”
If this track doesn’t get him on the cover, perhaps his performance at Decadence AZ will! Don’t miss your chance to catch Mr. Ratchet himself during Day 2 of the upcoming New Years Eve spectacle at Rawhide on December 31st. Borgore is the first announced artist for Day 2, but come both days and you’ll have the chance to catch Odesza and Pretty Lights during round 1! Stay tuned for more announcements for Decadence AZ!
