Let the Bodies Hit Margaret T Hance Park: Drezo Slays Phoenix Lights

For those of you who went to Phoenix Lights, you already know how amazing it was and I don’t have to say much there. Everybody threw down all they had those over those two days, and everybody left all of their energy behind at Margaret T Hance Park. Specifically that of our AZ home town hero, Drezo, who’s set was absolutely insane! If you don’t know much about him, check out the playlist below to listen to some of the songs he played from his Phoenix Lights set before we go into more of who he is and how his set went!

Drezo is definitely known for his house music, which is what the majority of his set contained with various trap drops in different songs he played throughout to switch up the pace. He loves to give the beat a little bit of funk and then as soon as the next drop builds, he’ll hit you with that dark 4/4 kick he is infamous for. In fact pretty much anything with a huge, phat, slamming 4/4 kick that knocks you on your feet is really where Drezo thrives. All of the songs he picked in his set for Phoenix Lights you can tell her centered around this feature of his music. Some of the songs and remixes that feature this thumping kick include songs like Animal Style, Forget About Dre, Heaven, and Bassline, to which the crowd absolutley went off on Sunday afternoon. All these songs show a pretty good bit of character as to who Drezo is and the music he allows to represent him. He’s a big fan of dropping unreleased music too, so there were a lot of tracks that he had made specially just for his wonderful fans here in Arizona.

Drezo is no outsider to the underground sound that is currently sweeping across the entire west coast. His most recent release was his remix of “4 Real” by Destructo. It’s a perfect song for him to remix because he can bring the intensity from Destructo and combine that with his darker and more imaginative side of house music. His remix of “Bodies” provides the same atmosphere and, believe me, when he dropped this track at Phoenix Lights, literally everybody lost their minds and their bodies hit the floor themselves.

Using influences from the LA scene has shaped Drezo’s music into a surge of haunting originality that is instantly recognizable. Currently being championed by some of the main icon figures in the game, Drezo’s is placed among the world’s top tier producers. If you want to see more of him check him May 4th at Badlands in Tucson!
