YetepA new feature, The Relentless Record Collection will serve to educate and inform you on the latest, the greatest, and the forgotten records of electronic music. This week we start off with an artist we have coming to town late next month, Brodinski, and his album Brava.
French producer Brodinski teams up with artists SD, Young Scooter, ILOVEMAKONNEN, Slim Thug, and many more to bring you, Brava. Although Brodinski has released numerous originals and remixes, this is in fact his debut album, which was released on March 2nd, 2016. Not only is this his first full-length, it is also a completely new musical direction for the Bromance Records head. Brodinski meshes his signature brand of French techno with trap music on this 14-track LP, in honor of passed friend and fellow French producer, DJ Mehdi. The album was mainly recorded in Los Angeles and Paris but shows heavy Atlanta trap influence throughout the entire project without getting repetitive.
First Brodinski combines forces with Atlanta based rapper Young Scooter on “Francois-Xavier”. “Francois-Xavier” begins with ambient, industrial style synths joined shortly by lyrics from Scooter accompanied by banging percussion.
Next we have “Interviews” featuring ILOVEMAKONNEN & Yung Gleesh. Beginning with video game like synth leads accompanied by offbeat verses from Makonnen and Gleesh, “Interviews” shapes up to be a head-nodding slow jam.
“Hector”, featuring Bricc Baby Shirto, displays Brodinski’s French techno roots and a melodic hook from Bricc Baby.
Last “51 Bandz”, featuring 2$ Fabo & Phlo Finister. Containing a beautifully constructed bed of 808’s “51 Brandz”, features speedily spit verses from 2$ Fabo & Phlo Finister.
Brodinski, based out of Reims, France, originally made his debut on Mental Groove with the release of “Bad Runner” in 2007. Following that Brodinski then had numerous releases, remixes and originals, on several labels, until create ing Bromance Records in 2011. The first bromance release was Bromance #1, which he produced with fellow Bromance artist Gesaffelstein. Since the creation of Bromance, Brodinski has had multiple success including producing two of the tracks from Kanye West’s “Yeezus” album.
Purchase “Brava” here, and make sure to catch Brodinski alongside Ryan Hemsworth at The Monarch Theater Saturday July 30th, 2016.
