YetepThe world’s favorite EDM boyband, Modestep, is back with a new banger aimed at making you get rowdy on the weekend. The group has always been known for their ability to push genre boundaries. “Live For The Weekend” might be the most extreme example of this in Modestep’s extensive discography thus far. The new single, released via Never Say Die Records, incorporates many aspects from the group’s dubstep and rock n’ roll roots while exploring the wonderful world of 808’s and trap beats. Turn your speakers up and take a listen for yourself!
As always, lead singer Josh Friend lays down some soulful lyrics that tie the whole track together and turn it into a true anthem. The hybrid between trap, dubstep, and rock elements throughout combine in a very fluid way to create a track with great transitions and high energy. If you couldn’t tell that the drop would feature 808 kicks from the trap horns strewn all over the intro, then you could definitely tell when they slap you in the face at 1:07. Accompanying the bass is a wide variety of synths found in both dubstep and trap music. Modestep has definitely stepped out of their comfort zone with this one and have been quite successful with their efforts. If “Live For The Weekend” says anything about the future of Modestep, it is set to be full of diverse musical concepts and very loud noises. Just the way we like it.
