YetepGTA, or Good Times Ahead, are a DJ duo from Miami. They started gaining recognition in 2012 when Diplo featured them on his Express Yourself EP. They went on to tour with Rihanna, Tiësto, and Calvin Harris in 2013 which further expanded their audiences. In 2015 they started a three-part EP series, Death to Genres and released several high-profile collaborations with Skrillex, Martin Solveig, and A-Trak. GTA released their debut album, Good Times Ahead, just a few months ago and it’s already received millions of plays.
This week’s Relentless Beat of the Week is one of our favorites from GTA’s most recent album, “Little Bit of This” featuring Vince Staples.
The song captivates the listeners from the beginning with a host of percussion and sounds before Vince Staples comes out hard with his fast-paced flow. It’s got a good beat that’s also a little funky and weird but in a really cool way! After the huge success of this track and entire album, a full remix pack was released last month with mixes from Yellow Claw, Party Favor, and Jace Mex. When asked about the collaboration in a recent interview the duo said:
“After we finished the beat we started brainstorming who we were into. Vince Staples came up. We reached out to him and he loved it and he started writing to it. He started doing his thing. Almost immediately from across the country he sent back this sick track. It was so easy how it worked out. We felt the same kind of vibe of making cool, weird shit.”
You can catch both these artists live soon; GTA will be at CRUSH AZ on February 18th and Vince Staples performs alongside a stacked lineup at Phoenix Lights on Sunday, April 9th.
