YetepBoombox Cartel has been making big moves this past year. The duo, composed of Americo Garcia and Jorge Medina, is becoming one of bass music’s most beloved up and comers. They released their Cartel EP on Mad Decent in April and made their EDC Las Vegas debut last month. Now they’re back with a hot new remix that has fans hyped after getting bits and pieces of it at recent shows.
After calling on fans for 2K retweets, Boombox Cartel finally released their highly coveted remix of Hudson Mohawke’s “Cbat.” Boombox Cartel’s remix is a fitting tribute to the Scottish act who commands his position as one of today’s top music producers. A modern trap-influenced makeover, powerful snares, and percussion adds a new intensity to the track, followed by a second round of future bass bliss.
“Cbat” is a recognized trap classic, and although it was released only four years ago, Boombox Cartel’s transformation of the track is an exciting one. They’ve elevated it to a main stage worthy banger. Many of Hudson Mohawke’s original elements are present in El Cartel’s version but they take the energy to a whole new level. Cartel’s remix of “Cbat” is another hit for their ever expanding discography. It’ll have your head knockin’ and feet movin’!
