YetepJust a week and a half ago fans were rushing the Glen Helen Amphitheatre to witness a piece of EDM history. The news broke a few weeks prior that HARD Events founder and CEO Gary Richards, better known as Destructo, would be leaving the company after 10 long years. While he assures fans this isn’t the end and we’ll be seeing more of him very soon, the news was heartbreaking to HARD fans everywhere, prompting hashtags like #nogarynohard.
Destructo ended his journey with HARD events at the 10th anniversary of HARD Summer. Knowing this I deemed it a must-catch set of the weekend and he delivered one of the best sets I’ve ever seen.

The crowd was massive despite the 4:30 time slot and scorching 100-degree temperatures. From start to finish it was one big party, with his family and fans flooding the stage. He brought out special guest Yo Gotti who performed two songs live on stage, followed by Dances With White Girls, AC Slater, Chrisitan Martin, and dance music legend Giorgio Moroder. Get a taste of the action below:
DESTRUCTO w/ GIORGIO MORODER – LAST DANCE… FOR NOW @ HARD SUMMER 2017 – 8.6.2017
Destructo ended his amped-up set on a lighter, more emotional note. After thanking the fans from the bottom of his heart for the past 10 years he gave his “Last Dance,” a perfectly fitting tune to mark the end of an era. There’s no telling what the future holds for HARD events or Destructo, but I have high hopes for both and am anxiously awaiting what’s to come.
