YetepSlovenian DJ and producer Gramatik is a staple in the EDM scene. He first started exploring his interest in music at the ripe age of three, when his mom caught him listening to funk, jazz, soul, and blues on cassette tapes he stole from his sister. As he got older, he branched into other genres, primarily hip hop, by listening to the likes of DJ Premier, Guru, RZA, and Dr. Dre.
Today, Gramatik is among the most influential artists in the scene. With his signature funk/blues/electro swing style, he’s amassed a loyal following and continues to be a prolific producer of quality music.
This week’s Spin it Back Saturday takes it pretty far back with Gramatik’s “Hit That Jive” from his 2009 album, SB2. Check it out below.
The track is a perfect embodiment of Gramatik’s style – it’s funky and jazzy, with clear European influences, demonstrating the producer likes to stay true to his roots. Can’t get enough? Be sure to catch Gramatik at Phoenix Lights next weekend. Grab your tix here.
