YetepMedasin is just what the future bass doctor ordered. During a time when just about everyone is trying their electronic hand at future bass, it’s difficult to stand out as both original and talented. Somehow, Medasin is both of these things and more. The young DJ, born Grant Nelson, is not going unnoticed by any means. His remixes by popular artists like Post Malone, Martin Garrix, and Flume are bringing his talent to a well-deserved spotlight. I made the mistake of missing his B2B with Ekali at EDC LV this year, but I’m lucky that Medasin will be diggin’ the wild wild west at Goldrush this year. Here are three songs that I’ve been listening to that get me excited for his set that will inevitably be good as gold.
1. Daydream (feat. JOBA)
This track from about a year ago starts off with dreamy synths and the crooning voice of JOBA. It has a beautiful melody that tiptoes between indie synth and future bass with a perfect harmony of vocals, electronic synths, and delicate bells. Listening to this song quite literally feels like you’re caught in a daydream.
2. Portugal the Man – Feel It Still (Medasin Remix)

This soothing and sultry remix of the upbeat original by Portugal the Man slows things down in just the right way. It fits the aesthetic of a cute little coffee shop, but Medasin’s sound he’s created here is greater than that. The original “Feel It Still” makes it hard to stand still, but Medasin’s remix slows down your soul and lets it float along with the tune.
3. Girls That Dance (Masego x Medasin)
Medasin’s collab with Masego infuses a smooth jazz vibe into Medasin’s already creamy sound. This marriage of different styles between the two artists is nicely formed, and highlights Medasin’s talent as a future bass producer.
Don’t make the mistake I made at EDC and miss Medasin at Goldrush this year. Make sure you follow the doctor’s orders and get your tickets now!
