YetepThere aren’t many artists out there that can match the raw talent that DJs and producers Ekali and SLUMBERJACK have. Both of these artists have worked their way to the top of the bass music industry. Each are forces to be reckoned with, and with the release of their newest track “Helios,” their worlds (and fanbases) are colliding. “Helios” translates into English as the God of the Sun. The name fits this track so well because, like the God of the Sun, this track is on FIRE! The track begins with a colorful and unambiguous introduction. The slightly murmured ghostly vocals take listeners into a rapid and luminous buildup. This buildup quickly drops into an absolutely filthy and brutal bassline, only to restore itself again during the break, restarting the process over. “Helios” isn’t your typical dubstep song. It’s the lovechild of two of the most innovative artists in the industry today.
Ekali has been killing it recently. After getting a special writing credit from Drake for assisting in If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late in 2015, Ekali began getting the attention he rightfully deserved. All 3 of the Canadian artist’s singles released this year have been massively successful, and he’s teamed up with world-famous artists like Zhu and Eprom. SLUMBERJACK, on the other hand, has been having his fair share of attention this year as well. Firstly, at the beginning of the year, the Australian duo teamed up with What So Not for a single on his album Warlord. They also have an extensive festival season ahead of them towards the end of this year. You’ll have a chance to witness Ekali’s magic in person when he takes over Goldrush 2018 on September 29th and 30th. Grab tickets here!
