YetepSan Holo‘s name has been buzzing through the Arizona dance music scene since his electrifying performance at Goldrush last year. His set was a fan favorite, complete with impeccable mixing skills, inspiring musicianship with guitar accompaniment, and a confident yet genuine stage presence. The multi-faceted songwriter, singer, musician, producer, and DJ has been teasing his debut album over the last several months with snippets of his creative process on his YouTube channel. And now, two tracks off the album have been released as a double single for his fans’ listening pleasure.
Released on his label bitbird, the first two singles showcase the Dutch producer’s evolving style. “Worthy” features an auto-tuned vocal paired with guitars and authentic recordings to expertly blend the worlds of acoustic and electronic music. He told Billboard: “It was very personal. I was seeing this girl, and one time we were walking and she said, ‘Do you even need me?’ The whole song is spoken from her perspective … The answer is no, I don’t need you to be happy, because I don’t think you should need another person for yourself to be happy.”
In contrast “lift me from the ground” offers a more aggressive rhythm while still utilizing uplifting tones that maintain a mature yet happy feeling. Holo gave us insight to the song on his SoundCloud upload: “’lift me from the ground’ is a song I wrote to describe the feeling of meeting somebody who makes you feel like you’re floating. it started out as a little melody I played on guitar, you can still hear it in the first part of the song right after the vocals kick in. I wanted this song to be something with a big drop but not with a typical trap beat that you might expect from me.”
You can catch San Holo on his album1 tour this fall along with fellow bitbird artist Tasks Black in addition to names like Said The Sky and Chet Porter!
