YetepBased out of Oakland, California, Will Magid, a.k.a. Balkan Bump is an efficientato when it comes to delivering groovy electronic music. His style is a combination classic electro-funk with loud and proud bass music. His newest track “Give Me Something To Funk” is an innovative bop that is sure to have crowds dancing. His sound sounds like a combination of Griz and The Floozies rolled together. “Give Me Something To Funk” is packed with uplifting brass instruments, soulful vocals from Kelly Finnigan, and an energetic bassline.
While in college, Magid studied Ethnomusicology at UCLA, by the time he was graduating, he had already played on every continent in the world, except Antarctica. Balkan Bump is the musician, producer, and DJ’s newest project. What makes his music stand out is his production style, which is a modern take on classic soul music. If people in the 1920’s had DJ equipment, their music would sound very similar to Balkan Bump. Balkan Bump is signed to Gramatik’s label, LowTemp, and has recently begun touring across cities all over the United States. You’ll have a chance to witness a healing set from Balkan Bump when he opens for CloZee at Shady Park on November 2nd. Grab tickets here!
