YetepThe legend of Stonehenge has remained a mystery for thousands of years, it is still unknown if it was used as a burial ground, a place of worship, or maybe even a prehistoric music venue. Whatever the true purpose of Stonehenge was, it hasn’t stopped DJ Paul Oakenfold and Carl Cox, trance and house music legends, from making history by being the first DJ’s to ever play the mythical arrangement of stone. The two DJ’s lit up the 40 tons of sarsen stone with neon lights as they played an intimate set to the 50 lucky attendees who received an invitation to the event. Paul Oakenfold and Carl Cox joined the elitist list of artists who have played Stonehenge alongside classics like Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and Ryan Adams. The best part? The whole set is available to watch! Check it out below.
PAUL OAKENFOLD b2b CARL COX at Stonehenge
Besides the performance at Stonehenge, Paul Oakenfold released a new track “Stonehenge.” Proceeds from the song will go towards benefiting the English Heritage.
This isn’t the first time Paul Oakenfold has made history by playing at a truly one of a kind venue. In 2003, he made history by becoming the first DJ to ever play The Great Wall of China. He even gave mountain climbers a once-in-a-lifetime experience in 2007 when he played 17,600 feet above sea level at the Mount Everest Base Camp. Paul Oakenfold will be remembered in history for the huge milestones he’s achieved in his 38-year career.
