YetepWhat’s the only thing better than a shot of Tennessee Jack on ice? Perhaps a shot combined with some bass music. This week’s DJ to Watch is Tanner Chung, who you may know as DJ/producer Dack Janiels. Raised in the bay area of Northern California, Chung grew up skateboarding and listening to hip-hop. Once he discovered bass music, it was all over for Chung, as he set out to craft his own blend of bulldozing bass and hip-hop vibes.
Like many of his talented counterparts, Chung attended Icon Collective, where he was able to perfect his craft before releasing his sound to the world. Now a skilled producer, he’s received serious support from influential names in the bass music realm, including Excision, NGHTMRE, Protohype, Funtcase, and more.
Dack Janiels’ sound has been described using phrases like “disemboweling drops” and “the equivalent of signing your soul over to the grim reaper.” In addition to creating massive bass tracks, he’s also a co-owner and founder of the 40oz Cult, a Los Angeles collective of skateboarders, artists, and producers as well as a label imprint and merch line.
You can catch Dack Janiels next March alongside Megalodon at Aura Nightclub in Tempe. Click here to purchase tickets.
