YetepFor this week’s Spin it Back Saturday, we are dialing it back to a song that sparked a movement within the music industry, “Soundclash.” This iconic TroyBoi & Flosstradamus collaboration is powerful, flooding listeners with nostalgic memories of when the trap subgenre of music was just beginning to see its full potential. This track is overflowing with eclectic synths that build and drop into a ludicrous drum, clap, and bass filled beat. My favorite part of this track is the vocals, they’re fun and don’t take themselves too seriously. All of the elements of the song come together flawlessly and make for a laidback trap hit.
“Soundclash” is off of one of the most memorable dance music albums of our generation, Flosstradamus’s HDYNATION RADIO, alongside the trap-music bangers “Prison Riot (feat. Lil Jon)” and “Lighters Up” with NGHTMRE. Since the release of this album, so much has changed for both Flosstradamus and TroyBoi. Josh Young of Flosstradamus has since left the project to pursue a solo career under the alias Yehme2. Flosstradamus still exists and performs to this day but is now a solo project. Troyboi has continued to grow since the release of “Soundclash” in 2015. He recently dropped V!BEZ, Vol 2 and has accomplished some huge milestones in his career including producing tracks with Diplo and Slumberjack. It’s great to see how much these artists have grown in the less than half a decade since “Soundclash” dropped.
You can catch TroyBoi alongside 1788-L, Blanke, Liquid Stranger, and Zeds Dead and Deadbeats 420 this April. Grab tickets here.
