DJ to Watch: ilo ilo

The mystery begins with their name and there seems to be no end in sight of the EMD enigma of that is ilo ilo. The unnamed producer came onto the scene back in 2017 not via a Soundcloud (which is usually the case) but by ambiguous flyers in major cities like New York City, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Austin. The grassroots efforts drove interest and all around buzz for the brand to get the people comfortable with ilo ilo. 2018 brought 4 tracks but still no knowledge of who was behind them. What we did learn was ilo ilo emits indie pop vibes that can be compared to big kids in the playground like Louis The Child and Whethan.

Popularity grew after he provided a vibey guest mix on LTC’s Playground radio at the beginning of the year. Skip to minute 22 to check it out. The full show also houses a yet another ilo mystery, an unreleased ID by our DJ to Watch.

Coming off of that mix, Ilo squared has released 2 “reworks” and 3 original tracks. We’re not sure who they are but we sure do know they don’t mess around. With the meticulous planning, beautifully designed social media and truly expectational production it’s clear to see ilo ilo came to play with the big kids.
