British producer Gareth Emery is a prime example of an artist who isn’t just successful with his art. He’s collected millions of streams with his most well-known albums: Northern Lights, Drive, and 100 Reasons To Live, all of which have topped iTunes dance charts. His music gets the production it deserves in his live shows with a concept he birthed in 2017 called Laserface, or “The World’s Greatest Laser Show.” Laserface features Emery’s music perfectly choreographed to hundreds of lasers by world-renowned laser designer Anthony Garcia and has sold out countless stages, including San Francisco’s legendary Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Opposite of his creative side is his innovative side, and evidence of this is his most recent projects. He founded the blockchain music startup Choon and co-created and starred in the eight-episode satirical dance music show We Are CVNT5, created for Verizon. Add to that his recent collaboration with Ashley Wallbridge, and you can really appreciate Emery as a past and present influence in the dance world. Listen below.
Gareth Emery constructs a track that’s a delicate balance of euphoric, powerful, and classic and titles it “Never Before,” and it really feels like big room is something you’ve never heard before. The sound design features the high-pitched synths we all know and love from big room house, but Jonathan Mendelsohn’s rich, soaring voice carries this song to a new place. Visit that place with Gareth Emery at his Goldrush Expeditions set at Shady Park on August 16th; get your tickets here.
