YetepElectronic music producer and DJ Josh Gard, AKA Figure, is largely known for his hard-hitting Monsters series that combines drumstep tracks with eerie samples from notable horror films. Since 2018, 9 volumes of the series have been released consisting of remixes like “The Exorcist,” “The Omen” and “RedRum,” a disturbing homage to Stephen King’s The Shining.
Fortunately for him, in 2012, this affinity for all things dark and deranged paid off and he was dubbed the official supplier of music for Universal Studios’ annual Halloween Horror Nights event where he debuted a few of his monster jams – a dream (or nightmare) come true for the horror fiend whose ultimate goal was to become involved in the movie industry and in projects such as this one.
Aside from the horror theme, Figure’s released several other works exhibiting alternate talents within the electronic music genre. He released a full-length album entitled Gravity with tracks like “One Million Tons of Starship” and “From Mars With Love” presenting a more earthy, future bass sound. He’s also released music through Skrillex’s OWSLA label that highlighted his trappier side.
All that being said, we are creatures of habit and it seems with Figure’s latest drop “Monster Squad,” that horror will always remain at the forefront of his music. See for yourself, but be warned, this heavy dub track will slap you in the face with bass.
His live performance skills have been recognized as some of the best in the business and he’s bringing that horror bass right here to Shady Park in Tempe on Friday, October 11. Grab your tickets here–if you dare!
