YetepIf you want to call yourself a basshead, you need to educate yourself on the history of dubstep and bass music. One of the greatest influences in the industry is Caspa – the UK bass pioneer, not the ghost. The champion of old-school dubstep busts out grimy bass beats that are featured in six mix compilations, 30+ singles, more than three studio albums, and high-profile remixes for artists like Kaskade, Deadmau5, and Swedish House Mafia. Caspa’s music is reminiscent of dubstep before it was all heavy-hitting bass and snares. His discography is over a decade deep, including his track “Louder VIP” from over ten years ago. Listen below for this week’s Spin it Back Saturday.
“Louder VIP” is a compilation of eerie synths, freeform rhythm, and the wobbliest bass from the last decade or so. Since this spooky song ten years ago, Caspa has continued to produce bass & wonky dubstep that stands the pressures of an ever-changing industry. Caspa strips down bass music to its simple sound design, yet he still melts his listeners’ brains with ease. If you’d like to melt with Caspa at the stage, see him when he plays at AURA on November 27th. Get your tickets here.
