YetepSouth African DJ and producer CHEE’s one-of-a-kind sound erupted into the international circuit in 2016 with the release of his Shrodinger EP via Dutch label, Underslung. He captured the hearts of many, including several tastemakers within the industry. Soon enough, his tracks were being featured on leading Youtube portals such as Inspector Dubplate. With the international hype building for CHEE’s fresh approach and experimental bass sound, labels began taking interest.
CHEE is quickly taking over the bass music realm, making him a perfect candidate for this week’s DJ to Watch.
CHEE began producing on labels like the drum & bass focused Type91, Close2Death and Algorithm as well as bass labels like Upscale and Renraku. His first full-length album Fear Monger came in 2017 via Saturate Records.
Today, CHEE is supported by the likes of Moody Good, Noisia, G Jones, Bleep Bloop, edIT (The Glitch Mob), Bassnectar, and more. He’s already completed several international tours and he has an array of high profile releases on the horizon. Keep an eye on this one – he’s doing big things.
CHEE will be supporting Subtronics on his Cyclops Invasion Tour. Don’t miss when they stop at the Van Buren in Phoenix on January 10th. You can purchase tickets here.
