YetepLast month Calvin Harris released Love Regenerator 1, an EP that recreates the sound of 90’s dance music which inspired him to begin his career. In an interview with Apple Music he explains “I wanted to rediscover the way I originally began producing music 22 years ago. Before I ever thought about how it might be perceived by outside forces, just pure fun and experimentation with what sounded good to me.” In order to stay true to his goal he went as far as restricting himself to synths and sounds from that time period for this project.
This Valentines Day Calvin released the follow up to his project called Love Regenerator 2. It features two tracks titled “The Power of Love II” and “Regenerate Love”. These songs continue his mission of emulating the music that he grew up on with a sound reminiscent to early techno and acid house. Give them a listen below.
Calvin Harris has always been an artist that reinvents his sound on a new project. If you didn’t know they were his albums, you would never guess the man behind I Created Disco was the same artist that created 18 Months. Once again we find him reinventing himself under the alias Love Regenerator, but with an underground sound opposite from what he has released in recent years. Only time will tell if this is a sound he’ll choose to continue in the future or if this was just a fun way for him to let the creative juices flow.
