Remix Recall: Galantis – ‘Runaway (U & I)[Subtronics Remix]

Cyclops or Seafox? Today we’re getting both! This week’s Remix Recall is on the long-awaited Subtronics’ remix of Galantis’ hit track “Runaway (U & I)”. Swedish dance-pop duo Galantis first released  “Runaway (U & I)” back in 2014 as the lead single off of their monumental debut album Pharmacy. Now known as one of Galantis’ greatest hits, this chart-topper has remained a staple to the festival scene for years. In celebration of the track’s eighth year anniversary, Bass producer Subtronics has officially released his rendition of the mega dance anthem! Check it out below:

When it comes to the spectrum of electronic music, Subtronics and Galantis are on completely opposite ends. On one side we have the bouncy electro-pop world of Galantis and on the other, the heavy bass dubstep universe of Subtronics. This remix is basically taking you on a trip from one side to the other. Subtronics strips the stems and bubbly chorus from the OG “Runaway (U & I)” and creates an entirely new track with this remix. Incorporating silly samples from the video game Team Fortress 2 and blasting listeners with his signature lively drops, this transformation is pretty insane. Subtronics has created yet another Certified Cyclops Classic. 

Subtronics has been deemed a wizard but he’s also a peacemaker. This is not the first time we’ve seen Subtronics combine two worlds and it definitely won’t be the last. From bridging the gap between house and dubstep with John Summit to remixing tracks that no other bass producer would think of, Subtronics is undoubtedly one of today’s most creative producers.
