YetepThe name “Louis The Child” evokes dancefloor euphoria and neon bliss. Consisting of Chicago natives Robby Hauldren and Freddy Kennett, the electronic duo amassed a loyal fan base with their kaleidoscopic sound designs and ever-expanding palette. While warm, bubbly synths and opalescent melodies comprise the foundation of Louis The Child’s brand of electronic music, the duo’s latest project, Black Marble, demonstrates their effortless ability to traverse genres.
Black Marble, the third beat tape released by Louis The Child, reveals an evolution in the duo’s sound; whereas 2020’s beat tape, Candy II, revisited the duo’s experimental and psychedelic roots, Black Marble steps into a darker, grittier, and more club-focused sound and aesthetic wholly unique to the entirety of their discography. Continuously mixed over 17 tracks, Black Marble sees Louis The Child seamlessly reaching across genres, from electro-house and moombahtron to big room techno and acid house.
Listen to Black Marble below!
While Black Marble takes listeners on a sonic adventure into the depths of dark clubs and grimy warehouses, the beat tape is accompanied by a short film for a complete audiovisual journey. The film, shot in black and white, features solo dance performances across nine different cities across the globe, ranging from the streets of Tokyo to the sandy beaches of Miami. As instructed by Louis The Child: “The best way to enjoy the project is to watch the film, play it very loud, turn the lights off and make sure you have some space to dance.”
Say good-bye to 2022 with Louis The Child, Zeds Dead, Fisher, and more at this year’s annual Decadence Arizona, from December 30th-31th at the Phoenix Raceway. To see the full line up and purchase tickets, click here.
