YetepI love EDM, and I believe those who claim they don’t enjoy it simply haven’t been exposed to the genres of EDM that could resonate with them – EDM encompasses various genres that cater to a broad audience. While there isn’t a definitive method for introducing someone to EDM, I’d like to share five songs geared towards the casual listener, hoping to spark their interest in the captivating world of electronic music.
“Moment” by Levity
Levity is an emerging talent, evident in the enchanting vibes of this track. It’s an ideal choice for those dipping their toes into EDM, maintaining the typical electronic song structure but featuring soothing vocals and a mellow drop. The casual house drop, enriched with scattered synths, gives the song an unmistakable electronic essence. It feels like flowing through water and sets a fantastic vibe.
“Water” by Marshmello, Tyla
This track, currently on repeat for me, serves as an excellent introduction to electronic music. Boasting remarkable vocals reminiscent of pop songs, it surprises with a well-executed stutter house drop during the chorus. The melody gracefully ascends and descends, taking the listener on a delightful journey. Give it a listen for a taste of electronic music with a pop sensibility.
“Summer Luv” by Whethan, The Knocks, Crystal Fighters
A recent discovery for me, this song is a certified banger perfect for the casual EDM listener. It seamlessly blends electronic elements into a pop song, featuring captivating lyrics. As the drop hits, an array of future bass notes leads into a hybrid funk house drop that guarantees to get anyone moving. It’s a must-listen for those looking to explore the diverse facets of electronic music.
“Phoenix” by LSDREAM
While slightly more “EDM” than the previous songs, this track remains beginner-friendly. The initial vibe exudes EDM, and the drop amplifies it with a funky and distinctly electronic feel. Filled with space bass elements, the drop maintains a classic funk pattern, creating a great danceable tune. Share it with someone interested in EDM and dancing – the rest will fall into place.
“Up in Flames” by Laszewo
This song, the most electronic on the list, appeals to any listener, whether an EDM fan or not. It carries emotional weight with impactful vocals, and the drop, though swift and subtle, is a perfect introduction. Future trap elements during the drop create a captivating soundscape, making it an ideal casual entry point for newcomers to electronic music. This one deserves to be on repeat for everyone!
