The Melodic Mastery of Seven Lions: A Journey to Headliner Status

Seven Lions is a titan in the industry and has earned his place on the Mt. Rushmore of melodic EDM music. Not only is his production arguably some of the greatest of all time, but he also constantly innovates to truly carve his own path. Now, he headlines some of the biggest festivals in the world and draws thousands of fans at some of the biggest venues when he tours. But like most artists, it was a journey of development for him to attain true headliner status, and I am excited to dive deep into his journey.

Seven Lions grew up with a musical background, playing piano, guitar, and drums, and like most EDM artists, grew up playing in a band. He eventually made the switch to electronic production and began his journey making trance, a genre he still creates to this day. Even though he had early remixes that still stand the test of time today, namely his “Cosmic Love” remix, his true breakthrough came when he won an Above & Beyond official remix contest for “You Got To Go,” another song that absolutely hits today, proven when played out by Illenium during his Trilogy set. Seven Lions built on this success, releasing with major labels such as Skrillex’s Owsla, and eventually creating his own label, the current melodic powerhouse Ophelia Records.

Seven Lions resonated with millions because of his innovation. His style pushed boundaries at the time, creating thrilling and dynamic melodic drops that were new to the scene, and fusing trance, dubstep, melodic bass, and soaring vocals that touched your soul, all in one set. His earth-shattering drops are mind-blowing, but he doesn’t just rely on power in these drops to wow. He has incredible accents that truly create a journey in every bass drop in itself. To this day, Seven Lions has remained true to his sound, and creates a variety of sounds in dubstep, trance, psytrance, and melodic bass that culminate in an experience unlike any other.

Seven Lions is here to stay, and the world is a better place because of it. He is one of the premier artists you listen to when you are happy, sad, and everything in between; he has something for everyone.
