Riddim Rats: Who is FuntCase?

Riddim rats unite! One of the greatest of all time will be coming to Tempe this August, but how much do you know about one of the all time legends? FuntCase, one of the baddest riddim and dubstep artists to dawn the decks, is an absolute menace when it comes to throwing down. FuntCase has been producing and mixing music for more than 15 years. His story begins all the way back in 2009, way before the popularization of masks within the riddim community. Back then, there was hardly a riddim community to speak of, and nothing compared to today. The community looked vastly different from the scene we know so well. Nowadays, any proper riddim function will showcase multiple talented DJs who have dawned masks in order to encourage crowds to focus on the music and the energy rather than the identity of the performer. FuntCase was one of the very first dubstep performers who wore a mask to all of his shows. This signature move has been replicated over and over, with each new masked alter ego bringing a brand new to the table. 

Not only has FuntCase been instrumental in developing and growing fashion and persona trends in the riddim community, but he has been one of the leading tastemakers through his multiple label projects. An original member of Circus Records, FuntCase has been instrumental in shaping the riddim sound of today. Circus Records was one of the most influential labels that shaped dubstep throughout the 2010’s. After many releases and signing great artists to the label, FuntCase wanted to go in a new direction and work on his own label project. Thus the  DPMO label was born. Home to some of the most brutal dubstep and wonky riddim, DPMO continues to sign and produce some of the greatest dubstep bangers out today.
