Fox Stevenson Weaves Guitars & Metaphors into His Newest Drop, ‘Road To Nothing’

Netherlands-based triple threat Fox Stevenson has had a great 2025 so far. His output has remained high-quality and consistent throughout the year. He also had a handful of US tour dates, making his mark internationally. “Road To Nothing” is his FIFTH single of the year, establishing a once-a-month release schedule since February. This is especially impressive when considering how heavily involved Fox is in the songwriting process. Writing lyrics, producing drops and melodies, and taking up vocal duties. Fox Stevenson continues to defy (and exceed) expectations as his storied career evolves.

“Road To Nothing” starts out on a lighter note, with eclectic piano and beautifully strummed guitars. The vocals kick in, welcoming in a groovy bassline and electronic drumbeats. Fuzzy bursts of bass break the rhythmic mold as Fox’s lyrics flow freely. The lyrics of “Road To Nothing” are introspective, confessional, and woven with metaphors.

“Well, I could learn the secrets of the stars and still I’d feel I need help. Belated realizations at the asteroid belt. Where all the regulars are trying to get away from themselves. I’m drifting off, I’m dealing with my personal hell.”

The guitars are ever present and show off the multi-genre capabilities that Fox Stevenson is known for. The drums take on a new rhythm. Building in tempo and intensity as the first drop and chorus forms under the surface. The low-ended bass forms a valley that the drop bursts out of. This first chorus features glistening instrumentals and a rolling bassline.

“Oh, how did I ever end up in a race on the road to nothing?”

The chorus/drop ends, as the next verse swings in. Notable lines include “Instead of learning to worry, I could learn how to love“; and “I should probably learn to wake up before noon. But how am I supposed to wake up when there is so much to do?” The second line is a contradiction that shows how paralyzing daily tasks can be sometimes.

The drums and bassline takes over in the second verse. Effortlessly dancing with the acoustic guitar notes in the background. The drop repeats once more, as Fox closes things out with a positive attitude after all the introspection. Welcoming in “a beautiful morning” and all the challenges that may come with it.

“Road To Nothing” is yet another consistent track that builds anticipation for Fox Stevenson’s third album, expected out this June. His songwriting and production skills are as sharp as ever. The intricate metaphors laced within the track are very personal. His open and honest introspection inspires the listener to immerse themselves in the track. Perhaps leading to a similar form of reflection. This creates a dynamic and hard to replicate listening experience that keeps me coming back for more. WELL DONE, FOX!
