YetepFlorida-based Tech House producer OKAYVAL continues to exceed expectations and push the boundaries of her sound. Exponentially increasing her fan base and Instagram following in the process. OKAYVAL has risen from 1k followers to nearly 92k since I discovered her song “Poison.” She recently stopped in Phoenix and is about to make her Los Angeles headlining debut. She has also earned cosigns from numerous industry titans. OKAYVAL is a producer to watch as she continues her incredible trajectory.
OKAYVAL’s newest release on Aeterna Records, “Count Up” was teased on her social media accounts several times. One notable video featured her enthusiastically firing ‘dollar bills’ out of a money gun. Smiling ear to ear while doing so. Her unique sense of marketing and openness to fan interactions creates an unforgettable dynamic.
“Count Up” begins with a subtle fade in and immediately lives up to its title.
“1 for the money. 2 for the show. 3 for the bass. 4 for techno.”
The beat rolls along with the “Count Up” flow and features electronic bass rumbles, echoing shuffles, and sweeping transitions. Sharp hi hats and crisp cymbals make up the drum section, occasionally breaking into tropical influenced sounds. A hopping bassline effortlessly bounces off the drums. Taking over in the lead up to the first drop. Briefly silencing before all the elements implode back in. Taking on a sharp twang during the drop. “BWOW!!” The cymbals do not let up, maintaining a constant presence in the beat. A heavy drum fill splits the drop in two, with a synth haze rising up from the rhythm. The beat crashes in from all sides, with the drums and bass in the spotlight. Fading out with a snake-like slither.
A chunk synth progression busts down the doors, welcoming in the last minute and a half of the song. Rising and falling like the tide of a Florida beach. The final drop spirals into the familiar loop, with extra prominent cymbals. Closing out the track with echoing vocals.
OKAYVAL continues to experiment with her sound design. Fine tuning each track with multiple layers and transitions. She creates memorable loops to help hook the listener and keep her music grounded. Every track from OKAYVAL is a BANGER and her gradual rise in the scene is just as interesting as her music. ENJOY!
