Relentless Beats

Crumb Pit Drop Video Game-Inspired Beat in New Single, ‘Just The Way It Goes’

Crumb Pit are a notable duo who specialize in snarky DnB party anthems. Their confidence and unbeatable stage presence bring forth dynamic releases and sets. The duo has a wide range of sounds and vibes, hopping between euphoric party anthems and yearning electronic ballads. Crumb Pit sets are known for wild crowds, incredible remixes, and mid-set artist/fan interactions. Their social media presence is innovative and consistent. Tracks will be promoted in multiple videos, settings, and outfits. One half of the duo is known for rocking iconic furry hat, perfect for battling the cold chill of their detractors.

Crumb Pit’s newest release, “Just The Way It Goes” mixes the two vibes mentioned above. The track begins with 8-bit video game that reminds me of the Galaga soundtrack. This includes sounds similar to Galaga’s explosion and tractor beam effects. These effects, digital waves, and guitar riffs effortlessly slice through the DnB breakbeats. The lyrics capture a wild night of solo drinking (“another bottle, I don’t even check the price”); and “waking up upside down.” “Just The Way It Goes” also features lyrics that humorously contradict each other. The narrator first states: “I don’t even want to go out.” This is until he meets a woman who wants to stay in and “play house”; replying with a firm “I want to stay out, I’m just talking out loud.” This flip-flopping is a perfect example of the duo’s charming sass and lyrical capabilities. Metaphors like “She like to light flowers” also show off the lyrical chops of this duo.

The first chorus hits as the beat weaves in and out like a spaceship in an asteroid belt. Warm synthesizers melt the ice-cold drum beats and autotune vocals. The next verse continues the escapades with lines like: “She acts so nice to me, but I know her heart is froze” and “now we in the VIP so don’t you get too close.” Even going so far as to “throw up in the sink.” Despite this debauchery, there is also a softer side to the track. This is shown in the chorus with the line “I hope that she works out because I want to lay low.” A line that seems to imply a relationship with this woman would be a break from the high-octane party lifestyle that Crumb Pit is known for.

This second chorus is proceeded by a soft bridge, bringing out the duo’s sentimental side.

“I thought you told me you would stay forever. I know I told you I’d change for the better.”

This brief moment of clarity is shot down by a loud, verbal shrug: “THAT’S JUST THE WAY IT GOES!” The 8-bit chorus concludes with revving dubstep spirals and a heavier drum beat, ending the track with a digital fade out. “Just The Way It Goes” captures everything that I love about the duo and makes for an incredible addition to their impressive catalogue.
