AZ rave fam, we have a problem. Actually, we have six of them. The weekend of November 6 through November 8 is shaping up to be one of those weekends where you could have six completely different nights out depending on what kind of electronic music is calling your name. Underground techno at Obsidian? Emotional vocals with HALIENE? Tech house with Obskür? A 360-degree Whethan experience? A late night at The Resistance? Latin house with RØZ to close it all out? At this point, asking what you are doing this weekend is almost impossible without asking a second question first. What vibe are you choosing? So we are doing this Mortal Kombat style. Choose your fighter. I am breaking down the stats, the energy, and exactly what kind of rave personality each event is calling.

FIGHTER 1: THE ONE WHO WANTS TO DISAPPEAR INTO THE SOUND SYSTEM

OBSIDIAN

HALIENE brings her powerhouse vocals to Sunbar Friday night, with the event starting at 9 PM. Giving you plenty of time to cry your eyes out and make it home at a reasonable hour. There is a very specific kind of magic that happens when a vocalist can actually command a dancefloor. The hands go up. The phones come out. Somebody you have never met is suddenly singing directly next to you. Then that first huge vocal hits and everyone in the room is screaming like they have been personally attacked by the lyrics. If your festival personality is soaring vocals, giant melodies, emotional drops, and singing at the top of your lungs with strangers, this is your fighter. Her special ability is having you crying in the club but somehow making it look completely normal.

FIGHTER 3: THE HOUSE HEAD

If vocals are not your thing and techno feels a little too serious, Obskür is cooking up Patio beats with an entirely different mission. The Irish duo will be bringing its tech house sound to the Sunbar Patio on November 6. This is for the person who does not need a giant emotional breakdown or a cinematic production to have a great night. Give them a steady groove, a filthy bassline, some perfectly placed percussion, and enough room to dance, and they will happily set up camp. Tech house gets into your body first and lets your brain catch up later. Saturday night takes a hard turn when Whethan brings the WAREHOUSE. WAVS TOUR to The Van Buren. And this is not just a regular Whethan show. RØZ

Sunday usually gets treated like the electronic music equivalent of a recovery day. Not this Sunday. RØZ brings the SE ESTÁ HACIENDO TARDE tour to The Van Buren on November 8, with the show beginning at 8 PM and after a weekend of techno, vocals, tech house, festival energy, and late-night club music, RØZ feels like the perfect plot twist. Their sound pulls house music into a Latin American context, giving the final night a warmer, more rhythmic energy.
