YetepA recent string of conspicuous messages followed by a video posted by GRiZ this past Friday has fans talking–but perhaps, that’s the point. It all started last week when he tweeted “I’m gonna miss u guysssss,” followed by an image of blurred-out pieces of papers with the caption “it’s about time we talked.” It didn’t stop there. He went on to delete everything on his Instagram account, except for one picture, displaying a blank sheet of paper and no caption. Even his website features the blank white page. This all led to one final message–an animated, spoken word video posted across his social medias.

He delivers his message with such emotion and conviction that it’s hard not to be moved. Throughout the two and a half minute video, he repeats the phrase “it’s about time we talked” multiple times, but at the end he says, “not now, but soon.” It might seem like GRiZ is taking a break, but with numerous confirmed festival appearances coming up, and a reputation for working tirelessly to provide new tunes for fans, perhaps he’s trying to “turn the page” and take his career in a new direction, starting with a blank slate. Often times artists slean their socials up before a big announcement, so we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for any news.
