YetepDark magic isn’t a term that should be used lightly. The new single “Lost in the Fire” from longtime collaborators Gesaffelstein and The Weeknd however, is just that; dark, eerie, bass-driven magic. The French producer and Canadian R&B singer come together once again to deliver another melancholy love song of the likes that only these two geniuses could cook up. This time around, The Weeknd sings about his current relationship, the ups and downs throughout, and the realization that he needs her in his life. The signature vocals are laid over an industrial-tinged, dark beat with a heavy bassline and low synths throughout. This sound has become a staple for Gesaffelstein tracks, and The Weeknd seems to be the perfect vocal match for his style, as they have worked together numerous times in the past. Check out the track below and see for yourself.
“Lost in the Fire” comes at a time where fans of both artists are yearning for new music. On top of taking a lengthy absence over the past few years, Gesaffelstein rarely releases singles of his own, so to say he has been missed is an understatement. With his last solo album Aleph coming in 2013, fans are hoping another body of work is on the way. The Weeknd fans know the feeling, as even though he did release his My Dear Melancholy EP in 2018, his followers are now waiting on a full album as a follow-up. All we know for sure is that these two can make hits, and “Lost in the Fire” is a great track to hold us all over until we get some more emotion altering tunes from these two legends.
