YetepAs the votes continue to flow for the International Dance Music Awards to be announced at the annual Winter Music Conference in Miami, the big question on every promoters mind is who has the best Vegas club, The Marquee at Cosmopolitan or XS at Encore.
Though only XS is up for the Best US Club (Marquee is suspiciously snubbed this year), Marquee brought in some of the biggest acts in town this last year including Armin van Buuren, Kaskade and so many more. That said, it’s hard to go wrong with a club who had residencies from Deadmau5, Tiësto, Avicii and the like, with billboards notifying sinners across the Vegas Valley.
The two, both similar in age, represent a movement in Vegas towards the EDM genre as a whole. Since EDC’s arrival in 2011 and the EDMBiz conference along with it, Las Vegas is pulling more and more of the superstars across the electronic universe.
This year is no exception, including the opening of the only Cirque De Soleil EDM club (that’s right, club) in town at Mandalay Bay, LIGHT, and the hype gaining 5 story Hakkasan sitting in front of the MGM Grand. Both of these venture have respectively signed Skrillex, Mat Zo, Zedd, David Guetta, Deadmau5 and Tiesto.
Though Marquee was the highest grossing club in America last year, with XS in second, they’ll have a bit of competition to keep their top spots as the kings of Vegas EDM.
