YetepWhen I saw Detox Unit on the Coconino Campout lineup, I yelled out in joy. Detox Unit is a space bass legend, and while his production is top tier, Arizona doesn’t have a huge market for that genre yet, so a Detox Unit performance is few and far between. His arrival in Arizona showcases space bass rising in popularity in Arizona, adding to the many EDM layers that the Arizona scene already has. Detox Unit is going to take us to space, and I am excited to take a deep dive into his music before his monumental performance at Coconino Campout.
What makes artists such as Detox Unit and Jade Cicada so immensely talented is that they are blazing their own path in the space bass world. Space bass is already a unique enough genre, relying on extraterrestrial sounds to create never-before-heard sequences, but Detox Unit takes it a step further and creates intricate, bouncy rhythm patterns that will take you to space. His songs are typically faster than your typical space bass powerhouses like Liquid Stranger, and his songs have that funky feel to them, allowing your body to truly just follow the music blindly, with unpredictable sounds and beats always around the corner. Some might call his music trip hop, though it’s hard to put definitions on an artist who is constantly pushing the boundaries with his sound and technique.
Detox Unit is going to show Arizona a different side of space bass, one that takes the spacey sounds a step further with unreal beats and unique rhythms, and one that no one can prepare for. It truly is lucky that we get to witness such a legendary artist on a stacked lineup; this festival is shaping up to be one of the best space bass festivals ever thrown. This festival is a must-attend for any bass fans, don’t wait, grab your tickets here!
