YetepKye Gibbon and Matt Robson-Scott of Gorgon City are two young men who each separately jumped in to clubland’s deepest and choppiest waters and learned to swim the hard way. Each was obsessed not only with the sound but with the culture of jungle / d’n’b, the barely controlled madness and dark energy of the underground tracks and rave tapes that inspired them as teenagers.
Gorgon City was born out of a collaboration between their previous aliases; Foamo (Kye) and Rack’n’Ruin (Matt) in 2012 “we realized we needed a different name for this project because it had taken on a life of its own and didn’t sound like either of our solo material” (Matt)
As soon as Gorgon City began things snowballed at a barely comprehensible rate. Signed to Virgin EMI & the mighty Black Butter Records – who’d already released a couple of Matt’s RackNRuin tracks, including a very early Jessie Ware collaboration, the beginning of Gorgon City coincided with the label’s explosion into the mainstream, spearheaded by label mates Rudimental.
Gorgon City quickly started racking up impressive musical hook-ups. Duting the first 12-months, they collaborated with one and only Katy B, pop singer-songwriter MNEK (including the gigantic single ‘Ready For Your Love’), R&B diva Jennifer Hudson, UK soulboy Maverick Sabre, the sultry Yasmin, plus song writing talents including Emeli Sande, Kiesza and Jimmy Napes.
Matt & Kye have also applied their signature production & song writing skills to tracks for Jess Glynne’s debut hit single ‘Right Here’, Jennifer Hudson and legendary indie band; Klaxons.
Since the release of their debut album ‘Sirens’, Gorgon City singles have sold in excess of one million copies, while clocking up over 100-million hits on Youtube.
While working on their second LP release, they tour the globe with an insatiable appetite, winning over crowds with their DJ sets and full live show from Ibiza to Tokyo, hitting every major music festival across UK, Europe and N. America along the way..
