PSY or DIE? What Does Carnage’s New Track Do for the Notoriety of the Genre?

Festival trap seems to be the genre attached to Carnage’s name. It’s safe to say that is what you can expect to hear throughout most of his live sets. Recently, he released the track, ‘PSY or DIE’ with Timmy Trumpet. On Twitter, positive feedback surfaced throughout the feed, but there is still debates whether or not it is considered psytrance music or if it will push the genre into the mainstream.

Psytrance is not considered one of the popular genres of today. With the bass scene on the rise, you could say psytrance has not made its mark on the map. With PSY or DIE, the track raises awareness to the genre and could attract more listeners. Whether or not it will actually move the genre into the mainstream is still up in the air.

Carnage is not the only artist facing backlash from listeners for switching up his style. Getter and Must Die! got into it with fans last night on Twitter due to their transformation into other styles of electronic music. Every move these artists make is under the spotlight now, and fans are going to have opinions of all sorts. As they become more famous, they may have to become more aware of how they represent themselves. It’s a tricky world out there, but it really comes down to a matter of artist integrity.

Catch Carnage this Saturday during the Release Pool Party at Talking Stick Resort.
