YetepMexico-born artists Americo Garcia and Jorge Medina are the masterminds behind Boombox Cartel. Having an incredibly diverse musical background, Boombox Cartel combines their love and knowledge of music with an innovative and unique sound. The duo was created while attending music school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their musical chemistry was instantly apparent and after a few self-releases, their star power began shining through a swift rise to the top of the electronic music scene.
These guys have collaborated with many artists like Bro Safari, NGHTMRE, and RL Grime to name a few, and have remixed tracks done by some big names as well. The duo’s most recent release is an impressive remix of Major Lazer‘s most recent track, “Cold Water,” featuring vocals by Justin Bieber and MØ.
“Cold Water” has grown to be infectiously popular, and it was a great move by Boombox Cartel to add their twist to the track. The best thing about their remix is the diversity in the drops. The first one sounds similar to their original track “B2U,” and the second could be compared to some of their more recent tracks like “Colors” or “How To Love.”
Boombox Cartel’s sound has transitioned from more harder dub sounds to a future bass sound, but they still master both and execute all sorts of awesome styles in their music. As time goes by they continue to keep their fans on their toes by maintaining diversity in their production.
