Kevin Gates Releases Third Track from Upcoming Mixtape

Kevin Jerome Gilyard, aka Baton Rouge-born rapper/singer Kevin Gates began his career in 2005 when he signed to a local label called Dead Game Records. He collaborated with fellow Baton Rouge natives, Boosie Badazz and Webbie on a mixtape, Pick of Da Litter, in 2007. A series of mixtapes followed, and his first debut album, Islah, was released in January of 2016, which peaked at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Gates is currently signed to Bread Winners’ Association with a partnership with Atlantic Records.

Following the recent release of two singles, “Money Long” and “Great Man,” Gates has just added a third track to the EP, called “Great Man.” Check out the Me Too / Money Long & Great Man EP Below.

The first two singles, “Great Man” and “Money Long,” feature Gates’ croony voice and emotive vocals. Both were received with both praise and criticism alike. They even sparked attention from celebrities like New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and singer Monica Brown. “Me Too” offers a more sensual, romantic vibe, with lyrics like “Girl, you addicted, and I need you.” The three tracks are said to be on Gates’ upcoming mixtape, Luca Brasi 3, set to be released on September 27, just days before his upcoming performance.

You can catch Kevin Gates at Goldrush next weekend alongside Rich The Kid, Vince Staples, and more. Grab your tickets here.
