Ookay Gives ‘Valentino’ by 24kGoldn the Trap Treatment

From “Fireflies” by Owl City to “Lean On” by DJ Snake, Ookay has given his unique trap spin to some of the most popular songs. His remixes usually break a million streams on Soundcloud and there’s a good chance you’ve heard them played live at festivals. He hasn’t released an unofficial remix since “Love Me Less (feat. Quinn XCII)” by MAX (Ookay Remix) eight months ago and fans have been waiting to find out what his next remix will be. On February 20, the wait was over when he released a remix for the highly successful track, “Valentino” by 24kGoldn. The original song has nearly 125 millions streams on Spotify and when it was released last February, it became a popular song on video sharing sites such as Tik Tok.

Ookay gives “Valentino” by 24kGoldn a trap makeover that is sure to get the entire room on their feet. The track starts off the same way as the original and slowly builds up the energy into the drop. High pitched, bouncy basses instantly hit after a throwback vocal sample and trap drums carry the momentum forward. Ookay combines traditional trap structure with modern sounds to create a drop that is dynamic and, like all of Ookay’s other songs, heavy-hitting. The first drop falls into the break and 24kGoldn’s smooth vocals introduce the second build up and drop. The break continues where the first buildup ended and the tension is built up even further with a powerful riser suddenly catching the listener’s attention. The second drop has the same trap-inspired bass, but this time it plays a catchy bassline that mimics the original track’s melody.

If you enjoyed Ookay’s “Valentino” remix, be sure to check out his Phoenix Light’s Sightings show at Sunbar on Friday February 28th in Tempe, Arizona (tickets are available here).
