YetepOur first full taste of Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories arrived last Friday morning at 12:01 am EST. The entire “Get Lucky” track, which was featured on a few SNL teasers and at Coachella, finally released, leading fans to speculate about the rest of the CD still set to release on May 21.
The track has broken Spotify’s record for the most streamed song, and has snagged the iTunes charts number one spot in several countries. However, it still remains in the number 5 spot on the iTunes USA charts.
The funky tune intros with an amazingly groovy Nile Rodgers vibe and smooth and sultry Pharrell lyrics. For those who haven’t paid much attention to the disco genre in the last 30+ years (don’t worry, you aren’t the only one) better turn their heads back. This song couldn’t be a better rebirth of the sounds of the 70s.
My personal favorite part of the song happens to be the moment when the robots bust out in their own auto-tuned, metallic voice, singing about getting lucky. Pure, Daft Punk classic.
The rest of the album releases on May 21.
