Relentless Beats

Don’t Drop Your Daiquiri Dancing to These Tropical Tracks

With the summer officially here, it’s time to break out the flip-flops, bikinis, beach balls, and ice-cold daiquiris. Take a couple days a week to lay back by the pool, the beach, the lake, or whatever body of water might be closest, and put on some great relaxation music. Recently, with the success of artists like Kygo and Thomas Jack, we have been graced with a number of excellent tropical tracks to make your summer feel like the beach is right in your backyard. Check out these five tracks from artists including Kygo, Thomas Jack, and more:

Ed Sheeran – I See Fire (Kygo Remix)

This is one of the tracks that gave Kygo his breakthrough success. The remix, coming off a song that was already a tremendous success, improves upon the original by giving us a mystical xylophonic melody to compliment Ed Sheeran’s enchanting vocals. If you feel the same way that I do about this track, be prepared to create an exclusive Spotify playlist just for this song, repeat locked and loaded.

DVBBS – Always

Taking a break from their days of producing big room bangers and electro house classics like “Tsunami” and “Immortal”, DJ duo, DVBBS, has crafted a unique take on tropical house. The song features a delightful female vocal track complimented by lush flutes and bongos. Take a look at what the van den Hoef brothers are capable of outside of their trademark sound:

Benjamin Francis Leftwich – Atlas Hands (Thomas Jack Remix)

With his remix of Atlas Hands, Thomas Jack is pretty much begging us to lie back on our beach chairs and to feel the heat sinking into our skin. There’s not much better than listening to a song as chill as this one with a beer in your hand underneath the sun. Thomas Jack takes us on a journey through summer, sand, and water with this playful mixture of string, brass, and woodwind. Observe:

Major Lazer & DJ Snake – Lean On ft. MO (Kamajiko Remix)

This song has already been blowing up the airwaves around the world, becoming an instant radio and festival success. Major Lazer and DJ Snake have already delivered one of the most iconic songs of this year, but Kamajiko has given it the perfect remix just in time for summer. The mix takes the song and gives it a very ethereal and mellow vibe, perfect for lying in a hammock under the shade of a cluster of palm trees. Listen to one of your favorite songs like you’re hearing it again for the first time:

Sam Feldt – Show Me Love

If we have learned anything from this countdown it is that some of the best tropical house tracks are those that stem from other classic songs. With this particular track from Sam Feldt, we are not being delivered a remix, but rather a completely original cover, aside from the lyrics of course. With vocals by Kimberly Anne, Sam Feldt has crafted a breathtaking tropical rendition of the Robin S. classic, “Show Me Love”. While the original is a club track that I’m sure many of us have heard during our nights out, this version asks us to allow the music to hit us and sink deep into consciousness. Sit back, relax, and take a listen:

And so we conclude! The summer is getting into full swing and what you need is to take a break. Of course, go to the festivals, party hard, and have fun, but don’t forget to kick back and put on some of the best that tropical house has to offer. And especially don’t forget to wrap up your summer with the Mad Decent Block Party featuring the sweltering sounds of tropical house innovator, Thomas Jack, on September 18!
