Relentless Beats

Weekly Underground Sound: Catz ‘N Dogz

The great Polish duo of Greg and Voitek, known around town as Catz ‘N Dogz, have made their grand return with their latest EP. Coming from their upcoming full length album, Basic Colour Theory, the two-track EP shows an exploration of new sounds coming from Catz ‘N Dogz. The first track, “The Joy”, has a more downtempo feel, which isn’t typical of Catz ‘N Dogz, but it works beautifully.

Coupled with a melodic vocal line, a tight beat, and chords of strings, almost reminiscent of disco, the first track off of the EP really captures the beauty and versatility of sound in dance music. The second track “I Bought It All” features that cheeky signature Catz ‘N Dogz sound. As the track goes on, it has a persistent bass line that keeps feet moving and synths that perpetuate the groove. The harmonic vocals that sit atop the already banging track bring it full circle as the lyrics themselves contain confessions of a guilty pleasure we can all sympathize with. Their new EP, The Joy, off of Pet Recordings, is out now and their full-length album Basic Colour Theory is set to release in September.
