Ultra Records Celebrates 20th Anniversary In Style

This past Thursday, December 10, 2015 Ultra Records celebrated its 20th Anniversary in style at the Output Club in Brooklyn, New York.

Roger Sanchez, SNBRN, Louie Vega (of Masters At Work) and special guest MK DJed the affair providing guests with an incredible sampling of dance music styles the label has been known for over the years.

In attendance were a wide range of music industry notables and artists including Ultra Music Founder & President Patrick Moxey, Ultra Music Senior Vice President & General Manager David Waxman, Edgar Berger, President & CEO Sony International, Frank Liwall, President Royalty Network, Danny Strick, President SonyATV USA, Guy Moot, Sony/ATV, Adrian Strong & Asim “Awesome” Alan, Co-Presidents Ultra Canada, SIRIUS XM’s Geronimo, Judy Weinstein, President of Def Mix, Michael Weiss, President of Nervous, Marci Weber of mdm Artists, Henley Halem of TMWRK and Gladys Pizaro of Strictly Rhythm. Ultra artists Flosstradamus, London Future and new signing Knoxa along with Fred Falke, Paulina, Disco Fries and Prince Fox were also in attendance.

Ultra’s early releases were singles like Roger Sanchez presents Transtlantic Soul “Release Yo’self” and “Lift Me Up” by MK featuring Claire Rivers. Over its 20-year reign, the label released many milestone works for artists during its early days–from Basement Boys, Roger Sanchez, Little Louie Vega, Eric Morillo, Sasha, Wildchild, DJ Sneak and Reel Soul to those that were first coming over to America from overseas like David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren and Axwell. To date, Ultra Music has put out over 5,000 releases including singles, EPs, mix compilations and albums.

Patrick Moxey has been tapped as one of the most influential executives in the electronic and dance music genre by the likes of Billboard, Rolling Stone, Business Week and Mixmag, just to name a few. Wrote Billboard (6/12/15) in their summer Power Players package, “Moxey’s Ultra Records just celebrated its 20th anniversary, and the pioneering label experienced a renaissance during the past year, with crossover chart-climbers like Robin Schulz‘s remix of Mr. Probz’s ‘Waves’ and new tastemakers like Alina Baraz & Galimatias. Prior to its Sony merger in 2013, Ultra put out seminal releases from the likes of Deadmau5 and Kaskade. Now, as Sony’s president of electronic music, Moxey is still trusting his gut on talent. Case in point: winning the 2014 bidding war for Kygo and making OMI’s ‘Cheerleader’ an unlikely top 20 smash.”
