Diplo Takes on Sports with the Announcement of His Leading Investment in Arizona United Soccer Club

Who knew Diplo loved soccer? Arizona United recently announced that one of the leading investors for their soccer club is none other than Major Lazer and Jack Ü collaborator Diplo, who is leading a syndicate of many other music professionals doing just the same. This group has invested in a minority equity stake in the team, which also means that they will serve on Arizona United’s board of directors.

The team and its associates are just as happy as any to have Diplo on board, for they see it as much more than just a partnership. “Diplo, throughout his music career as a DJ, Producer and Artist, has always been about global culture, youth culture and inclusiveness, and we couldn’t think of a better match to fit our core demographic and to wrap our team around,” said Kyle Eng and Brett M Johnson, Co-Chairmen of Arizona United Soccer Club.

And equally excited about the opportunity is Diplo himself, who had this to say about his recent financial endeavor, “I wanted to figure out a way to get involved with the game and team sports so when Arizona United presented itself, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. I see soccer the same way I see music, as a connective tissue linking the world’s cultures.” After traveling the world like Diplo has, it is not surprising that the cultural significance of soccer would leave a true impact on the producer.

Arizona Untied recently announced it’s 2016 season schedule, which includes 15 scheduled games in the Peoria Sports Complex her in the Valley of the Sun. The team will make their 2016 valley debut on April 30 when they face off against the Portland Timber FC 2.
