EDMovie Madness: TEPR With A Video Made Far Outside The Box, Kaskade, and Steve Angello

In today’s day and age music videos are something that with artist’s creativity can be taken any direction and to any extreme that they want. Starting now I will provide a weekly write up on the newest music videos in dance music to show you just how imaginative they can get. This week I’m focusing on a peculiar film from TEPR, Kaskade‘s video for “Whatever”, and Steve Angello‘s ‘Tiger”.

TEPR – “Half Below”

I wasn’t exaggerating when I said peculiar as the new video for “Half Below” shows off a trippy side with all manner of animated mouths, including mouths that replace eyes on Destable’s face. Destable tells PopMatters that he “had this idea of a ‘three mouths face’ music video for a while now and to me it seemed impossible to achieve unless I could have the Pixar army under my command. Then one day, the ELMO boss texted me out of nowhere ‘Dude, I love your music, let’s make a video together’. I knew their motion design and 3D work from the Martin Solveig’s videos so I was excited. I proposed my ‘mouths’ idea and three months later I received this insane / cute / weird / fun video that takes the dark tone of the track away, but still keep it in a ‘freak show’ vibe.

Kaskade – “Whatever” ft. KOLAJ

The newly released music video for Kaskade’s “Whatever”, one of the album’s lead singles, examines how quickly feelings change, with its rapid moving environments and views. Featuring LA-based electronic duo KOLAJ, it showcases the trademark breathy, heavenly female vocals we’ve come to associate with Kaskade’s tracks.

Steve Angello – “Tiger”

Steve Angello continues to embrace his creative juices with yet another visually-stimulating music video for “Tiger,” off his recently released studio album Wild Youth. Directed by Fredrik Hvass, Angello balances beauty and darkness with a gut-wrenching video concept that proves to be as animalistic as the track’s title.
