YetepBased in Berkely California and birthed as an artist in 2013, KSHMR has made a name for himself in the world of electronic music. He gained lots of attention from his track “Megalodon” in 2014, and is also known for contributing to compositions for many famous producers like Borgeous and DVBBS.
Like most of his work, released on Spinnin’ Records, today he’s given us his full EP ‘The Lion Across The Field.” With twelve tracks total this will be the producers first full body of work, and is inspired by a children’s book. On April 14th, he shared on Facebook, “My new EP is titled The Lion Across The Field, based on a children’s book I wrote some years agoThis weekend at Coachella I will be taking the crowd on a journey into this new world through animation and an original score I composed. Hope to you see you all there.”
KSHMR executes his indian culture into this EP with a mix of exotic sounds, interludes, and of course some deep house beats as well. Five of the twelve tracks are interludes serving as glue between each track taking you on a striking journey through the EP.
The first full track, “Jungle Whistle,” is the perfect intro to the safari with a jungle drum background and an Indian sounding whistle, followed by the airy flute sounds of the second track, “Sleepwalk.” After another interlude, we have “Wildcard” with vocals from Sidnie Tipton with a bit of a faster pace and big room drop. After another interlude is “Dadima,” and “Touch” featuring Felix Snow and Madi, two more laid back and relaxing tracks. After the fourth interlude, “Dhoom ” speeds things back up with an exciting and unique Indian electro drop. Following “Dhoom” is the final interlude and final track, “Hymn Of Reflection,” winding things back down with some tropical sounds and reflecting on the EP. “The Lion Across The Feild” is available now on Spotify.
