The Relentless Record Collection: Malaa’s ‘ILLICIT’ EP

Welcome back to another edition of The Relentless Record Collection. This week we have a new 4 track EP from MALAA, ILLICIT via CONFESSION Records. Popping up a little over a year ago, MALAA has had huge releases since day one. Beginning first and foremost with his remix of Major Lazer & Dj Snake’s “Lean On” everyone wants to know, “Who is MALAA?” Although there is speculations that the man under the ski mask could be Tchami, Mercer, or Dj Snake there has been no confirmation of such. One thing we do know is MALAA is continuing to release audible gold and as far as we’re concerned he can wear that mask as long as he wants.

ILLICIT begins with an intro that could be speculated to be MALAA’s mission statement for the EP or possibly the entire masked project. “Illicit Intro” states, “This is Malaa music, you can listen to this shit at the club and go rob a bank afterwards, this is the shit we live for—real house music, this isn’t no game, this is serious, it’s real.” Followed by the intro is tracks “Diamonds”, “Frequency 75”, and “Danger”, which are absolute house bangers and can all be heard below.
